Ruthie's Fund Scholarships

What is Ruthie's Fund?:
Ruthie's Fund for Teachers
provides small grants to projects that provide professional development for Jefferson County R-1 schools (Colorado) educators,
so that they have the chance to become better at what they do. The Fund was established by her family in 2007 to
honor Ruth Raife McKellar, a Jeffco Public Schools kindergarten teacher, and to emulate her lifelong generosity
and respect for teachers. The fund supports professional development for teachers that will make a difference for
children. The fund is administered by The Jefferson Foundation
About the scholarship:
The Ruthie’s Fund scholarship amount is $250 to be applied towards tuition
for a Colorado Writing Project (CWP) summer workshop. This covers half of current tuition costs and
does not apply towards other course expenses (books; optional graduate credit). Teachers are responsible for remaining
tuition and course expenses. Multiple scholarships may be awarded annually, depending on the needs
of applicants and availability of funds.
Who may apply:
Full-time K-12 teacher employees of Jefferson County R-1 public schools. Teachers
should have as one of their current or anticipated assignments the teaching of writing.
Scholarship recipients may
sign up for
any of the open CWP 2011 summer workshops (See
Workshop Reigstration for list of classes). CWP often conducts at least one workshop session at a Jefferson County location.
